Constituent Engagement Leads to List Growth, Revenue, and Retention for Humane Society of Indianapolis

The Humane Society of Indianapolis (HSIMS) is the leading voice for the welfare of animals and improving their quality of life. HSIMS is the first choice in providing direct services for shelter cats and dogs, including adoption, foster home placement, behavior training, appropriate medical care, and affordable spay and neuter services. As the voice for the animals, HSIMS brings together like-minded, animal-focused individuals and groups to educate the public about animal welfare issues and concerns.

Business Challenge

HSIMS had already been using TeamRaiser® prior to adding the full Luminate Online Marketing suite, and began the Go! program with a large housefile and healthy fundraising results. Increasing non-event fundraising was the primary goal, along with converting one-time event donors and participants to long-term supporters.

Reason for Partnership

Luminate Online Marketing Essentials with Go! was a good choice for HSIMS because, REASON FOR PARTNERSHIP even though the organization was already familiar with online fundraising and marketing, it needed support initiating and maintaining a solid cultivation strategy. By providing monthly production services and assistance with an editorial calendar, the Go! program gave HSIMS the extra resources it needed take its online efforts to the next level.

Capabilities Gained

HSIMS’ participation in the Go! program elevated its fundraising return on investment to include over $500,000 in non-event fundraising revenue. A warm and educational welcome series combined with consistent, compelling monthly newsletters was key to this organization’s success.

In addition, HSIMS was able to better convert one-time event donors into repeat donors and long-term supporters with its excellent cultivation efforts. Thirty-eight percent of donations today are from repeat donors.

Mission Impact

HSIMS focused on sending regular donor-focused messages which built strong, long- lasting relationships with its constituents. This communication strategy was compelling to constituents new and old, but was particularly compelling to those who originated from a TeamRaiser event and may have otherwise been just a one-time donor or participant.
