Making grants while teaching employees grant making
For more than 25 years, Blackbaud has invested in the Lowcountry of South Carolina – where the company is headquartered – by making grants to nonprofit organizations. From the time the fund was established at the Coastal Community Foundation, we have turned to our employees to determine how the funding should be distributed. Service on this grants committee is both an honor and a way to get an up-close look at the issues in the community, helping our people better understand the organizations we work with every day.
In 2013, we took this concept company wide, launching the Blackbaud Community Matters Grants program, which makes grants throughout the year in the other locations where we have offices. Employee committees, modeled after The Blackbaud Fund approach, make the funding decisions.
Grants are made to organizations with budgets of less than $2 million. Preference will be given to grant requests that focus on general operations, capacity building or education of disadvantaged populations. Here is more information on:
