The Foundation’s development plans are ambitious: Build their database with good prospects, identify potential major donors, and implement a new grateful patient program.
With a small staff, it’s a huge task, but Ms. Hutchins is excited about the potential. She uses ResearchPoint daily in conjunction with WealthPoint™ OnTime, and is pleased with how much she can accomplish. The learning curve was short. “It’s interesting and easy to use,” she said.
On a daily basis, Foundation staff wealth screens prospects. Then, according to the WealthPoint OnTime letter rating scale, data is imported into ResearchPoint and an individual profile is created.
“It’s very efficient, by using the WealthPoint OnTime letter rating, we are able to build our potential major giving profiles,” Ms. Hutchins said.
One of the most immediate benefits of the new software is that it allows staff to assess patients much more quickly and effectively. “If we know one of our donors is in the hospital, we can make sure we see them. They have good reason to feel they should be recognized, and we feel that they deserve extra thanks.”
Another key driver for purchasing ResearchPoint was to support the Foundation’s brand new grateful patient program. Called Grateful Hearts, the program seeks to connect with potential donors after they are released from the hospital to begin a dialogue with them.
A letter sent to the patient’s home introduces the Foundation and allows him or her to make a donation to the Foundation and/or in recognition of a doctor, nurse or staff member who assisted in their care.
“We also add our grateful patients to the mailing list for our biannual magazine,” said Ms. Hutchins. “Through that, they can learn about Foundation-supported campaigns, our physicians, new equipment, and community needs. It’s all part of building our reputation.”
